What does your job involve? I'm Works Manager for several operations. It's a demanding, exciting, non-routine, multi-skilled job that requires constant learning. The tasks are varied, ranging from managing teams to coordinating subcontractors, as well as communicating with the customer and the owner. The most important aspect of my job is, of course, safety. I'm the guarantor of the health and safety of everyone working on the site - while ensuring that quality, costs and schedules are respected. It's often said that a Works Manager is like a conductor. A person who directs to form a coherent whole.

Can you tell us about your career and studies? I chose to work in the building and construction sector because of its dynamism and numerous opportunities. Naturally, after graduating from ESTP PARIS with an engineering degree in construction in 2011, I wanted to return to my home region. I applied to SEG-FAYAT because I was looking for a dynamic company on a human scale, where proximity is important. I did my 3 internships there and gained the trust of my tutors and then my superiors. Here I am 10 years later, still with SEG-FAYAT and happy to be there.

Have you become a tutor yourself? Yes, that's part of the job too. It's also a question of mutual development: we're training the next generation! As a subsidiary of the FAYAT Group, we are also sponsors of the 2019-2022 ESTP graduating class, so we welcomed 8 interns in 2020 and will continue to do so in 2021! At the same time, we also maintain close relationships with local schools such as ENIT in Tarbes, for example.

What has enabled you to develop within the company? First and foremost, hard work, my willingness and ability to adapt, and last but not least, my working environment. All the people I've worked with have been a source of inspiration for me. The way they see things, the way they work and the way they react have all contributed to my progress. I also honed my skills as a manager, notably by taking the CAP Management intra-divisional training course, which brings together all high-potential employees.

What would you say to a junior/beginner who would like to apply for a job at FAYAT BÂTIMENT? The FAYAT Bâtiment Division is a major on a human scale. One of our strengths is the diversity of our activities throughout France. We have big projects, but also smaller ones. FAYAT BÂTIMENT is the right company for you if you want to have an all-round job, where routine and boredom do not exist; if you are versatile and have the ability to become a real leader of men. Internal promotion is part of our DNA, so anything is possible in terms of career development.
