Christophe M. shares his inspiring experience

On graduating from ESTP with a Building specialisation, I joined the agency as Works Supervisor. My level of responsibility grew rapidly and I was made Chief Works Supervisor and then Group Leader. A group leader can be responsible for several operations or one major project. This is a fascinating hands-on job with a lot of human contact. We’re constantly learning from our experience, as no two projects are the same. On joining one of the Fayat Bâtiment Division’s companies, I discovered a vibrant agency on a human scale, and have had the chance to work with highly committed colleagues.

At the moment, I’m in charge of a project to build 363 housing units within 8 buildings and a 600-space overground car park. My task is to manage a team made up of a Chief Works Supervisor, 5 Works Engineers and a few apprentices. I also have to ensure lead times, safety, quality and the financial result of the operation. This requires planning and organising jobsite tasks, as well as managing the various stakeholders. My role as a leader is to support and motivate the teams.
