February 21, 2022 - Cannes, France - The Marina du Vieux Port de Cannes SAS company, whose share capital is held by Island Global Yachting (IGY) - a leading international marina management company - and the French construction group Fayat, has signed a 30-year concession contract with the City of Cannes to operate, improve and modernize the Vieux Port de Cannes.
This emblematic destination, located in the heart of the Côte d'Azur, with a capacity of 727 berths for boats, thus becomes part of a worldwide network of 23 marina destinations managed by IGY.
The investment program will include the creation of a fishermen's village to be delivered by January 1, 2024, the construction of a semi-buried parking lot with 519 light vehicle equivalent spaces (including 35 coach and bus spaces) and an extension to the Albert Edouard jetty, the relocation and improvement of the careening area, the modernization of the technical area including the fuelling station, and the construction of a new Harbour Master's Office and a new Service Center.
In order to enhance the appeal of the Old Port of Cannes, a central element of Cannes' identity and historical heritage, the waterfront will be upgraded to optimally showcase and accommodate old riggers, classic sailing ships and “tradition” vessels, as well as traditional “pointus” boats.
This program will modernize, embellish and increase the capacity of the Old Port's land and harbor infrastructures, particularly for larger vessels, and improve the quality of services provided to harbor users. More than ever, local yachtsmen will have their rightful place here.
Tom Mukamal, PDG d'IGY.We are honored that the City of Cannes has entrusted IGY and Fayat with the management and development of this world-renowned site. Our team looks forward to providing our customers with hospitality solutions for vessels in leading yachting destinations by bringing IGY's expertise and professional standards to the Côte d'Azur. “We look forward to transforming the VieuxPort de Cannes into a world-renowned model of a maritime destination, including top-class events.

This is a very important project for the City of Cannes, and we are delighted to have been chosen with IGY to lead the modernization of this historic and emblematic port.
The action plan includes new port services (concierge service, electric shuttle linking the Old Port and Port Canto as well as both parts of the Old Port, berths adapted for people with reduced mobility, etc.).
Ambitious environmental initiatives, such as a carbon offsetting program, a new power supply service for large ships, the acquisition of underwater drone robots for pollution inspection operations, the preferred use of sustainable energy sources and zero-emission fuels, and permanent monitoring of the water column, will make the Vieux Port de Cannes a model of ecological protection, technological innovation and sustainable development.
Emmanuel Messiaen, Port of Cannes ManagerIGY and Fayat appreciate the opportunity to partner with the City of Cannes to enhance the Vieux Port's service offering and showcase this exceptional destination to the global maritime community.
Lastly, integration into the local ecosystem will be promoted through local job creation, ongoing dialogue with all the port's stakeholders (port authority, yachting and fishing associations, training organizations for seafaring professions and pointus repair, companies offering nautical activities, tourist office, convention organizers, brokers) and increased synergy with the other ports in the Cannes basin.
