The FAYAT Group strengthens its presence in Renewable Energies
Since 2020, France has been committed to the development of low-carbon hydrogen with an ambitious national strategy. Endowed with 9 billion euros of public support to get the industrial sector off the ground and its deployment across the country, it aims to deploy 6.5 GW of electrolysis, 1,000 recharging stations by 2030 and thus avoid the emission of 6 million tonnes of CO₂ per year. Through its various subsidiaries, the FAYAT Group's ambition is to become a major player in the hydrogen value chain over the long term. The Group has defined several strategic areas of development, whether in the decarbonization of industry, or in the development of hydrogen-powered heavy mobility. In this respect, the FAYAT Group is also a member of the Association Hydrogène de France and has been awarded the RGE (Reconnu Garant de l'Environnement) label through its subsidiary CASTEL & FROMAGET.
FAYAT Group subsidiaries for the Hydrogène de France project
The project involves the construction of the world's first mass production plant for high-power hydrogen fuel cells. A major technological and industrial breakthrough for France, this plant, pre-certified as a PIIEC1 (Projet Important d'Intérêt Européen Commun), will supply the national and international markets for heavy mobility (rail and sea) and electricity production for the grid. Located on the site of the former Ford factory in Blanquefort, near Bordeaux, it will contribute to the reindustrialization of France and Europe, the development of the local industrial fabric and the export of a French technology.
For this project, our subsidiary SEG-FAYAT is responsible for the structural work, including the construction of an office building on the ground floor (R+2) and a production hall on the first floor.
Our subsidiary CASTEL & FROMAGET has been appointed to build the steel structure of the offices and the entire roofing and cladding of the building.
This large-scale 7,000 m² project strengthens the Fayat Group's presence in the Renewable Energies sector.
This project joins other Group successes in the hydrogen sector:
- An IT network contract for Symbio, the joint venture between Faurecia & Michelin near Lyon, a pioneer in hydrogen mobility, with one of Europe's largest 4.0 production sites for fuel cell systems, with a total production capacity of 50,000 systems per year.
- A metal construction contract for Madic, a Nantes-based specialist in multi-service stations, with the construction of a new 18,000 m² 4.0 production facility in Saint-André-de-Cubzac, near Bordeaux.
